In the past I have not taken very good care of myself and ignored my medical issues (and I have a LOT). Now that I am in my mid-40s, I can’t ignore things anymore. Good thing I smartened up, too, because my blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglycerides were all bad (being almost 100 pounds overweight probably doesn’t help). I recently had a total hysterectomy because my female parts were all kinds of fucked up. Bye-bye horrendous periods and helllooooo menopause, LOL! Now on to the myriad of other issues I have been ignoring….
I went today for an ultrasound of my neck. The right side has been visibly “swollen” for, oh, about 20 years. It wasn’t too bad (just looks funky because you can very obviously see the swelling in my neck) until the past year when I started having problems swallowing. As the test results popped up in my online patient portal, it got me to thinking how many of us google our test results? I mean, it’s gotta be human nature to worry and want to know right? But we are NOT medical professionals and have no real way to correctly interpret the test results–and Google is your worst enemy!! LOL Based on my results it looks like there is most likely a swollen lymph node and now my mind is racing, wanting to know why…why do I do this to myself!?
Here’s hoping that my doctor gets back to me soon…
