Why choose when you can have both?
Our favorite beach in the lakes and mountain region of New Hampshire is Ellacoya State Park in Gilford. It is on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire’s largest lake at over 21 miles long. For a nominal fee, you can park all day. There is a playground for the kids, free-standing charcoal grills, and even a pavilion area you can reserve for larger parties. The swimming area is roped off for safety and it doesn’t get very deep depending on which end of the beach you are on. The constant boat traffic gives the beach some waves so it’s kind of like an ocean vibe and the mountains offer a beautiful vista.
Now that we are back living in NH and not traveling to our camp near the lake by plane, we will have more time for the beach this coming summer. We can’t wait!
