In the Hunt…

With our impending move 800+ miles up the East Coast, I am actively looking for a job for when we get there. I have many years of accounting experience and it still seems so hard to find something! I am searching indeed and LinkedIn daily and apply to anything I am even remotely qualified for. My fiancee already has a job, so at least that is one thing crossed off the giant to-do list of moving.

I read the job description, my heart leaps because I KNOW I can do the job I am applying for…aaaaanddd….crickets. I hear nothing. Then a few days later I get the “Dear John” of rejection emails over and over again. Why is no one even considering my skills and qualifications? It is sooo frustrating!

I have 3 potential interviews on the hook right now. I seemed to breeze through the initial phone screening process on all 3. They seem to genuinely like me and my experience. I have followed up with 2 of the 3 (the third is new as of today) and they both say that they want to interview me but nothing is set in stone yet. My anxiety levels are crazy and I just want the reassurance of having a job because we have a great opportunity for a nice apartment, but it is conditional on me having gainful employment. I am trying to remain God-focused and leave it to Him as He always provides, but it is hard! Praying that at least one of these three opportunities pans out and we can cross another thing off the moving list!

  1. The three interviews you’ve kept alive are already evidence of capability – you’re not invisible, just in the slow machinery of hiring timeline. The apartment offer feels like leverage, not a trap; remember that conditional approvals often work on a bit of trust, too. Keep following up gently, stay visible, and let your faith do some of the steadying while you do the work.
