Building the minds of future generations

Daily writing prompt
What alternative career paths have you considered or are interested in?

When I first started college, I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. I even started the courses for it. I love kids and helping them learn and grow. School was always an escape for me and I loved it growing up. I looked forward to it every day and often taught myself the whole textbook by the Christmas break.

I dreamed of shaping the minds of our future generation and being that inspiration for children that my teachers were for me. Then, while attending community college, I ended up with an office assistant job and it fostered my love of accounting. I changed my trajectory and finished my associates degree in business administration in 6 years while working full-time and having my daughter. She was 2 when I graduated and that was no small feat!

I would still love to get my degree in education and pair that with my business degree and teach online college classes. Maybe someday…

    1. Thank you for your kind words. They mean a lot after just moving 800 miles and I don’t have a full-time job lined up yet, so the stress is mounting!
