First hike back in New Hampshire

Last week we took our first hike back in New Hampshire. We went to Marjory Swope park and took the Swope Loop trail up to Jerry Hill and then over to the mountain vista.

I am barely 4 months out from my hysterectomy and still about 100 pounds overweight so for me to do any type of hike is hard. This one was fairly tough for me-maybe not for regular people but with my chronic illnesses and such every half mile is a huge accomplishment. The trail was rocky and full of roots sticking up through the ground and covered with a carpet of leaves. The footing was slippery and treacherous once it began to sleet and snow.

The struggle up the hill was well worth it. The views were amazing and it started snowing/sleeting when we got up there. It was great! It felt so refreshing and the peace I feel when I look out on mountain views here in NH is unparalleled. Here’s to many more hikes, even in winter!
